Moving day: We woke up at 6am and Dan finished loading our SUV with everything we couldn't bring on the flight (we were each allowed a backpack). At this point, we still didn't know if there would be room for Dan on the plane. At 8, the social worker arranging our flight and transfer came in and told us we'd be picked up at 10 to be taken by ambulance to the airport. She still hadn't heard whether or not Dan could come. At 10, the flight crew arrived and said there would be room for Dan, WHEW!!! I was then loaded up and strapped into their "bed" and we were off for the airport. During the trip to the ambulance, I got to feel the sunshine for the first time in 6 weeks! It was 60 degrees and BEAUTIFUL in Wichita.
My private flight: The flight was rather uneventful. We made a stop in Illinois to refuel the plane and to eat lunch. We then completed the move to Ann Arbor where it was raining and 43 degrees...yuck! Dan got to sit co-pilot both in the ambulance AND on the plane.
New hospital room: The new hospital is BEAUTIFUL (see pictures via link in last blog entry). I have a private room, and there is a couch bed for Dan to sleep on the entire time I'm here. Our supper was AWESOME. The veggies were steamed just right, and everything we ordered looked and tasted great.
Our stay so far: This evening we met a lot of doctors, residents and nurses who will be involved in our care. We answered a lot of the same questions over and over, and also managed to begin settling into our room. We have a full growth sono scheduled for Monday.
